Bed Bath & Beyond $BBBY

Role The hard chapterEra The one that did not make it

The story every honest account has to include.

The setup

A struggling big box retailer, heavily shorted, and a natural next target after GameStop.

The run

It went from around $20 in early January 2021 to an intraday high of $52.89 on 27 January, then ran again in later waves.

The ending

Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy protection in 2023. Shareholders were wiped out. There is no way to tell this one as a victory.

Why it belongs here

Because leaving it out would be dishonest. Retail attention can move a price. It cannot fix a balance sheet, and it cannot save a company whose economics have already failed.

What it proved

A short squeeze is a market event, not a business turnaround. Conflating the two has cost real people real money.

Legacy

The cautionary chapter. Anyone selling you a movement without mentioning BBBY is selling you something.
